THE 1949 BOY SCOUT EXPOSITION

CHICKASAW COUNCIL,
BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA, INC .
•

Member of The Mempl1is & Shelby County Community Chest

Chickasaw Council welcomes you to this great Boy Scout Exposition. The thousands of boys participating in the various demonstra tions are having the fun and training which the Scouting program of
character building and citizenship training affords.
This Exposition is held for the primary purpose of presenting to
parents and all interested people just what Scouts do, for we are deeply
appreciative of the whole-hearted support of the citizens of this area
•
which is so vital to our future citizens.
The financial support necessary to ca rry on the work of Scouting
is d erived from the citizens of the area served by Chickasaw Council,
who provide our operating budget.

•

•

As we have no m eans of providing funds for capital expense for
our three camps except through th e funds raised by the Exposition and
Circus, the revenue, if any, from this Exposition will be used for perma. nent installations at the camps and none of the revenue will be used
for operating expense.
There are now 3,008 Scouts, 1,646 Cub Scouts, a grand total of
4,654 boys in the Council. But ther e are thousands of boys of Scout and
Cub Scout age who have not had the benefits of Scouting. The Council
needs more volunteers to serve in this great work of training our youth
so that an ever-increasing number of boys may have the fun of Scouting
activities.
