Master Corps Keep In Touch
If you have camped at Camp
Currier recently, you probably
have noticed a group of Scouters
contacting Troops in camp.
These Scouters are members of a
new organization in Chickasaw
Council, called the Camp Master
Corps. This group is just getting
started and should expand its
activity in the near future.
The Camp Master Corps is a
group of experienced Scouters
who serve about 2 weekends per
year at Currier. The duties of this
Corps now are to contact Troops
in the entire camp, stay in touch
during the camping week-end,
and check out Troops as they
leave camp. We believe the Camp
Master Corps can help maintain
security and safety in the camp,
can screen incoming traffic,
direct Troops and visitors to
campsites, provide a better
communication, promote the

Outdoor Code and cleanliness m
camping. The Corps can provide
assistance to Troops in many
ways, particularly the new
Troops, and Troop_s with limited
adult leadership.
As the Camp Master Corps
grows, we hope to use it to
provide .program and advancement opportunities at camp and
to assist other groups in
developing and improving the
camp and it& Scouting Program.
We need more Scouters in
this program and would welcome
all those interested in joining
this import*nt program. Call
Thane Smith at 754-5200 or Scout
Office - 327-4193.

celebrate together. The beauty of camping and other Scouting
activities with our Congressman Harold Ford and many other guests
was quite an affair. On behalf of the Chickasaw Council a~~ my.self I
would like to say thanks a million for your excellent participation.
The 4th of July Jamboree is a good example of what can be done
when we all work together. If there are any ideas for the future or
criticism of the past event please let me know. We are always m need of
people who have genuine concerns and a willingness to help:
I would also like to give a special thanks to John Newton, Lou
Woods and Hal Foster for helping to make the Jamboree a successful

rvity.

Your District Conclave is the Scout Service Center.
your unit's first step for a wellplanned
coordinated program
during 1980-81.
Each unit should send its key
leaders to learn about the
Council and District programs ·
and events for the coming year.
(See date for your District's
Conclave in your District's
column.)
After the District Conclave,
your unit is encouraged to
conduct its own annual planning
conference. It is advisable to do
this within a week to ten days
after the District event. Your
conducting of a unit planning
conference will encourage more
of your current families to
become involved in the overall
program. Involving more
families results in unit activities
with a wide variety to meet the
demands of many interests. It
will insure an active program
with more of your families as
participants not spectators. And
finally it will insure the
realization of a key precept of
scouting: family involvement.

If you have camped at Camp
Currier recently, you probably
have noticed a group of Scouters
contacting Troops in camp.
These Scouters are members of a
new organization in Chickasaw
Council, called the Camp Master
Corps. This group is just getting
started and should expand its
activity in the near future.
The Camp Master Corps is a
group of experienced Scouters
who serve about 2 weekends per
year at Currier. The duties of this
Corps now are to contact Troops
in the entire camp, stay in touch
during the camping week-end,
and check out Troops as they
leave camp. We believe the Camp
Master Corps can help maintain
security and safety in the camp,
can screen incoming traffic,
direct Troops and visitors to
campsites, provide a better
communication, promote the
Outdoor Code and cleanliness m
camping. The Corps can provide
assistance to Troops in many
ways, particularly the new
Troops, and Troop_s with limited
adult leadership.
As the Camp Master Corps
grows, we hope to use it to
provide .program and advancement
opportunities at camp and
to assist other groups in
developing and improving the
camp and it& Scouting Program.

COMMEMORATION
In our American way oflife we celebrate many historic dates. The
4th of July, Independence Day is one of our special historic days that
we celebrate.
The 4th of July Annual Scout Jamboree was indeed a chanc~ to
celebrate together.
We are always m need of
people who have genuine concerns and a willingness to help :
I would also like to give a special thanks to John Newton, Lou
Woods and Hal Foster for helping to make the Jamboree a successful rvity.
