Who are these guys?
.Here are our new officers for the l 993-94 year. They have come with some fresh ideas for
continuing the recent successes of the lodge and expanding these ideas to reach more new
members.
Ken Kimble, l 9, is currently lodge Chief. He served as Vice Chief twice ('89-90, "91 -92) prior
to the election. He is a sophmore at the University of Memphis, majoring in Journalism, an E.agle
Scout, a three-year camp staff member at Kia Kilns Scout Reservation. a Vigil member of the
lodge, and an Assistant Scoutmaster in Troop 4.58.
Brad Stevens, 17, is currently lodge Vice Chief. He is very active in Ceremonies/Indian
Affairs, and Unit Elections/Camp Promotions. He is a Junior at First Assembly Christian School,
an Eagle Scout in Troop 200, a three-year camp staff member at Kia Kiina Scout Reservation.
and a Vigil member of the lodge.
Peter Abell, 1.5, is currently Lodge Secretary. He is very active in Unit Elections/Camp
Promotions and served as SE District Councilman last year. He is a sophomore at White Station
High School, an F.agle Scout in Troop 23, and a Brotherhood member in the lodge.
Chuck Barber, 15, is currently Lodge Treasurer. He is very active on the Ceremonies Team.
This past year he served as Dance Team co-chainnan and NE District Councihnan. He is a Life

Lodge Helps Kia Kima Achieve Another Great Summer
by Andy Perey
Kia K.ima Scout Reservation, the Chicbsaw Council's long-tenn summer aunp in the
Om!h., romp!ete4 ~IJ!fhe!' £L~ssfol ~~, i~ !993 aided by the V1lliant efforts of
Chickasah Lodge Arrowmen. 'The lodge helped to set up camp with the work of over 50
members in a pre-camp Brotherhood and service weekend in early June, coinciding with the
annual Vigil ceremony. Aaowm~ whether members of K.ia Kima's camp staff or just
volunteeJ."S for the weekend. pitched ill and set up tents. cleaned up campsites and camp program
areas. and joined together ill fellowship.
Their efforts paid off in the five sessions of Boy scout camp and one of Cub-Webelos held at
Kia Kw in 1993. The staff, widely acclaimed for their maturity. skills, and energy. was a key
factor in this success, and over ninety percent of the staff were Arrowmen in the Chicbsah
Lodge. Reservation Dirc::ctor Scott Stephens and Program Directors Paul Prothero and Carey
White, all Vigil Honor members of the lodge, led the staff in creating a top-flight program in
aquatics, ecology-conservation, handicraft~ shooting sports. and Scoutcraft. Set in the beauty
and expanse of the rolling Omrk Mountains, the Kia Kima experience is one not to be missed in
Scouting.
The lodge continued its service through two post-camp Ordeals. at which they tackled the
monumental task of taking down tents. bunks, and mattresses and storing them for the season, as
well as helping Camp Ranger Larry CoWits with numerous projects around camp. Without the
efforts of the numerous members and candidates alib; closing camp and preparing for the future
would have been impossible.
The Chickasaw Council and the Chickasah Lodge are already looking forward to preparing
for Kia Kima's 1994 season. already set to be its best ever. As an Arrowman, you can be a part of
this success story: sign up to help with the lodge's camp promotions program in the coming
winter and sprin~ and encourage all the Scouts in your troop to sign up for Kia Kima in l 994.
And finally consider the uhimate dedication to the council's camp: apply for a position on the
K.ia Kima staff. an inoomperable adventure of hard work. fun. fello~ and the rewards of
helping boys become men.

SCOUT BASE '93
By: Brad Stevens
The Chicbsah Lodge was
involved this year with Scout Base ·quite a bit.
We did things from showing camp promotional
videos to running the Saturday night campfire.
We started out Friday night
directing traffic and showing troops where their
campsites were located. We bad plenty of
Arrowmen show up and help out. Later on that
night, the ti '!':-:;~ team put on a short
performance which was rather impressive.
Saturday the lodge had an Order
of the Arrow Camp Promotions/Unit Elections
booth. They showed videos from Camp Tallaha
and Kia Khna Scout · Reservation. There was a
model campsite run by Trey Cole that showed a
ro>.Jp!e cf ~~ vf t~~ stoves, etc. and what · a
low impact campsite should look like. We also
had urowmen mnning errands, escorting guests,
and working in the concession stonds.
The Dance Team put on a s:oall .
pow-wow. The pow-wow was one of the larger·
events, cons.iming of 1bree tipis and about 40
bails of hay for the team to sit on.
Saturday night the Lodge was in
charge of the campfire. The master of
ceremonies was Lodge Chief Ken Kimble. The
big entertainment was a group of singers who
sang a selection of "oldie but goodie-" songs.
The Dance Team also perfonoed a few · ~
and the campfire was wrapped up with an
encouraging speech by our Scout Executive, Mr.
Bob Salser.
We really appreciate all the
Arrowmen who helped out at Scout Base. You
were a big help and Scout Base would not have
been such a phenomenal success without you.
We are looking forward to seeing you all again

.Here are our new officers for the l 993-94 year. They have come with some fresh ideas for

Lodge Helps Kia Kima Achieve Another Great Summer
by Andy Perey
Kia K.ima Scout Reservation, the Chicbsaw Council's long-tenn summer aunp in the
,A!'b~ Om!h., romp!ete4 ~IJ!fhe!' £L~ssfol ~~, i~ !993 aided by the V1lliant efforts of
Chickasah Lodge Arrowmen.
And finally consider the uhimate dedication to the council's camp: apply for a position on the
K.ia Kima staff. an inoomperable adventure of hard work. fun. fello~ and the rewards of
helping boys become men.

youth members must be active and supportive members of the Chicbsnh Lodge and demonstrate
leadership in service in all their Scouting actioos.
Aduhs will be awarded upon fulfilhnent of The 1993-1994 Adult Leadership

National Honor Lodge - This could be the year!
Over the past several years, the Chiclmsah Lodge has been striving to meet the
requirements for National Honor Lodge. The one requirement that holds us back this year is our
number of registered Brotherhood members. If you are a Brotherhood member of the Chickasah
Lodge~ it is imperative that you pay your "94 dues by Dec. 20. If we are able to increase our
percentage of registered Brothabood members, then we will be able to qualify fur this
prestigious National Award. For your Lodge; for your~ and for yourself. do your pUt in
helping to make the Chickasah Lodge the best in the Nation.

Attendon Adults: HERE IS HOW YOU CAN HELP THE CmCKASAH
WDGE:
The one question that often comes from adults is, "How can I help?" Aduhs are
elected into this youth run organi7.atian because aduh leaders in thc.ir troops feel that they may be
of some service to the youth of the COUDCiL To clarify the pm.pose of ado~ the LEC has ~ted
The 1993-1994 Adult Leadership Campaign. Adults can best fulfill their role in the Order of the
Arrow by following these three simple steps:
1. Bring at least 3 youth airowm.en for every adult to Lodge functiom.
2. Serve as a knowledge base in their troops for all Order of the Arrow
events and Lodge functions.
3. Be active and supportive members of the Chickasah Lodge and its
office I'S.
The theme fur this campaign is ADULT SUPPORT • YOUTII
INVOLVEMENT. The only way we can have an active md productive· lodge is through the
support of the adults and the involvement of the youth.
Together youth and adults will be able to serve the ·camping program of the
Chickasaw Council and return the Chicbsah Lodge to its rightful place among National Honor
Lodges.
