Location And Story Of Kia Kima Scout Reservation
Kia Kima Scout Reservation is located near Hardy, Arkansas deep in the Ozark Mountains.
Dedicated in 1964, the Reservation consists of two separate camps - Camp Osage, the main
camp, and Camp Cherokee, the outpost camp. Between the two camps a Scout has over 860
acres to explore, dotted with mountains, pastures and a natural stream river and also a 40 acre
man made lake.
Camp Osage consists of 12 camp sites, a dining hall for meals, health lodge and main administrative building which houses the main camp's primary facilities. The beautiful South Fork of
the Spring River, (subject of a recent National Geographic article) flows through the middle of
the camp, giving each Scout the opportunity of boating or white-water canoeing.
Camp Cherokee, our outpost camp, consists of I 0 camp sites located on the banks of the
beautiful 40 acre lake. Scouts prepare their own meals. The Patrol Method is the mode of operation at Cherokee.
Trading Post facilities, equipped with snacks, handicraft items, and Scout equipment are
available at both camps.
Merit Badge and Skill Award instruction is offered by qualified counselors, in over 40 Scout
related activity and advancement subjects. Scouts will be given more opportunity at actual rank
advancement during a week at summer camp than the rest of the year combined.
The water offers every type of aquatic activity, (boating, canoeing, swimming, and fishing).
The land is a paradise for small game; opossums, deer, coons, foxes, rabbits, squirrels and birds
of all types (and yes, skunks) can be found in abundance. There is most every type of foliage
and tree native to the area found on the Reservation.

Location And Story Of Kia Kima Scout Reservation
Kia Kima Scout Reservation is located near Hardy, Arkansas deep in the Ozark Mountains .
Dedicated in 1964, the Reservation consists of two separate camps - Camp Osage, the main
camp, and Camp Cherokee, the outpost camp. Between the two camps a Scout has over 860
acres to exp lore, dotted with mountains, pastures and a natural stream river and also a 40 acre
man made lake.
Camp Osage consists of 12 camp sites, a dining hall for meals , health lodge and main administrative
building which houses the main camp's primary facilities.
The Patrol Method is the mode of operation
at Cherokee.
Trading Post facilities, eq uipped with snacks, handicraft items, and Scout equipment are
avai labl e at both camps.
Merit Badge and Skill Award instruction is offered by qualified counselors, in over 40 Scout
related activity and advancement subjects. Scouts will be given more oppor tunity at actual rank
advancement during a week at summer camp than the res t of the year co mbined.
