Dear Scouter:

1955

The Chickasaw Council's activities and progress during
has been most gratifying.

Space will not permit enumerating the many accomplishments of the Council during the current year. However, a full
program was offered and we are happy to r eport that our boys ' participation exceeded all past year$.
The outstanding ~ob done by our Sustaining Membership
Committee in raising over $15,ooo.oo in sustaining memberships
has made it possible for the Council to carry on its full program.
Much credit for the progress made this year is due t o
you, the volunteer l e aders of tho Council. I sincerely hope and
believe that the personal satisfaction you must have in r endering
this service more than r epays you for your inter est and the hours
of hard work you put into it.
Many thanks for your fine cooper ation and f or your contribution in serving our boys of the Chickasaw Council.

FINANCE COl1MITTEE
Chickasaw Council is entirely free of debt, as it has been the policy for
many years to spend only those funds which wore in hand.
Tho job of the Finanoo Committee is throe fold. First, building tho budget: second, developing sources of income and third, supervising expenditures of all Council funds.
Our 1956 plans include a full scale budget planning conforonco to be hold
in May so that our 1957 budget will reflect more accurately tho finance
needs of our entire Council.
The Sustaining Membership Program made possible tho continuation of the
high quality program tot ho boyhood of tho Council Area.In ordGr to maintain tho quality of the Scout Proeram and oxtGnd Scoutine to morG boys,
it will be nocGssary to secure additional financial support in thG yGars
At tho present time our sources of income for tho operating budahead,
got are: Memphis and Shelby County Community Chest, Independent Campaigns
in CrittondGn and Mississippi Districts, Sustaining Momberships, interest
on endowments and Capital funds, tribute (memorial) f'unds and appropriations from funds raised by Council activities,
Our books of account are auditGd by Poat, Marwick, Mitcholl, and Co., Cer-

tified Public Accountants. Expenditures are made in accordance with budget allocations made by the appropriate Oporatine Committee and approved
by the Finance Committee and Executive Doard.

LFJ\.DERSHIP TRAINING COMMITTEE
During 1955, your Training Conunitteo has continually worked toward a goal
of training evory top Unit Loader to do a moro affective job with our

In addition to basic Unit Loader Training other courses have been given
such as Patrol Loaders' Conferonce,Den Chiofsl Conforonces, Iloundtables,
a Cubbers Pow-Wow, Initial Training in new Units and spcciliiilod training Events, Of special noto is tho Don Mothorsl Workshop held in cooperation with Goldsmiths' Department Store, Ovor -500 ladies shared this
grand experience, During 1955, four Advanced Loaders Courses were conducted,
Your Conunittoo on Training has completed plans and will conduct a
Woodbadgo Course at Slick Rock Daso Camp next sununor, Our progress toward
our goal compared to 1951, 1952, 1953, and 1954 is given below. This is

Your Training Conunittee looks forward to 1956 as a year in which we can
make a real contribution to boyhood through the Training and Coaching of
our Unit Leadership. To the Training Conunitteo and tho members of tho
Training Teams in tho Districts there is nothing more important in the
operation of tho Council than the training of men who are leading boys,

Dear Scouter:
The Chickasaw Council's activities and progress during
1955 has been most gratifying.
Space will not permit enumerating the many accomplishments
of the Council during the current year. However, a full
program was offered and we are happy to report that our boys ' participation
exceeded all past year$.

Many thanks for your fine cooper ation and f or your contribution

make a real contribution to boyhood through the Training and Coaching of

ORGANIZATION & EXTENSION COMMITTEE
The Committee feels that tho slight loss
in mombership as of December 1st will be
overcome by tho ond of tho year. This
loss is largely duo to tho reorganization
of tho Seminole Division into 3 Divisions
serving Negro youth.
