Mr. Schrack,
October 24, 2014
I am pleased to inform you that t he Old Kia Kima Camp has been detennined eligible
for the Arkansas Register of His toric Pla ces. In o rder to detennine the camp's
eligibility for the National Register of Historic Places, members of our staff will need
to make an on-site visit to look at the various structures. Our main concerns are the
amount of new construction and additions on some of the buildings and the
rebuilding o f several of th e cabins. It will be necessary to look at the structures in
person in order to make o ur final National Regi ster Detenninatio n . We plan on
scheduling this visit some time in December, due to o ur already full schedule for
November. Please let us know a if there are any dates in December when it would be
possible for us to come up and take a look at the property.
Thank you for your interest in the National Register of Historic Places and the history
of Arkansas. Withou t local interest, many of these important s ites wou ld be lost
forever .
