All the stops have been pulled out to aake this conclave the BEST conclave our section has ever had, and with the overwhel•ing turnout of Arrow•en , there is no liait to how good this conclave can be . The planning for the conclave began last su•aer by a dedicated group of Arrow•en. With the help of this group and many other youth and adult Arrow•en, the conclave has shaped up extremely well . Soae ninety brothers attended the initial conferenc e. At that tiae the section was referred to as Area V-E. In 1951 aore than 125 arrowaen attended the conclave at Caap Wilkes, near Biloxi . In addition to the four lodges froa Mississip pi (Ashwanch i Kinta-193 , Sebooney Okasucca- 260, Ti ' ak-404, and Watonala- 169), Quinipissa Lodge of Baton Rouge and Chilantako ba Lodge - 397 of New Orleans also attended . In 1956 the six lodges of Mississip pi were bound together a• Area V-C. The new area.inclu ded the original four Mississip pi lodges plus two new ones - Chickaa-20 2 and Koi Hatachie-3 45 . Mississippi. So•e ninety brothers attended the initial conference. At tbat tiae the section was referred to as Area V-E. In 1951 aore than 125 arrow•en attended the conclave at Caap Wilkes. near Biloxi. In addition to the four lodaes fro• Mississippi (Ashwanchi Kinta-193. Sebooney Okasucca-260, Ti'ak-404. and Watonala-169). Quinipiaaa Lodae of Baton Rouae and Chilantakoba Lodae-397 of New Orleans also attended. In 1956 the six lodaes of Mississippi were bound together as Area v-c. The new area.included the oriainal four Mississippi lodaea plus two new ones - Chickaa-202 and Kot Batachie-345. The first Area v-c "conclave was held at Caap Tiak with the Ti'ak Lodze as host. In 1973 the section was renaaed SE-48. The first conclave in SE-4B was held at Caap Yocona and hosted by the Chickaa Lodae. In 1982. a aajor change occurred with the addition of the Chickasab Lodae-406 froa Meaphis, Tennessee·. and the Ittawaaba Lodge-235 froa Jackson. Tennessee. The section was re-naaed SE-2. The Mississippi and West Tennessee lodaes joined toaetber in fellowship at the first SE-2 conclave at Caap Kickapoo with the Sebooney Okasucca-260 lodge as bast. The first conclave held in Tennessee by SE-2 was boated in 1985 by the lttawaaha Lodae-235 at Caap Mack Norris. In 1984 the Council of Chiefs established a host lodge rotation for conclaves. Land! The next Ordeal and Broth erhood will be held at Kia Kima Scout Reservation near Hardy , Arkansas, on June 7, 8, and 9, 1991. All members are encouraged to attend the Ordeal to make a good impression on the candidates and to show them the new spirit of the Chickasah Lodge . As well, your service that weekend will greatly aid the lodge in fulfilling its service to the council in preparing Kia Kima for the hundreds of campers who will attend camp this summer. Finally, if you have been an Ordeal member for more than ten months, you may participate in the Brotherhood Ceremony offered that weekend . Youth members are also eligible to serve as Elangomats, or friends , to the candidates as they undergo the Ordeal. Please indicate your interest in this program on the enclosed form . All members eligible for Brotherhood membership should read the enclosed notice. This summer , the Brotherhood Ceremony will be held on the Ordeal weeke nd and each Thursday at camp. The fee for the weekend should be submitted with the registration form to the council office by May 31 for the $10.00 price, or a late fee of $2.00 will be added. This fee includes all meals Saturday, breakfast on Sunday, and insurance. The Brotherhood fee is $20.00, with a late charge of $3.00 , which also includes sash. Check -in will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the Administration Building, and the weekend's event s wiii end by 10:00 a.m., Sunday. All members eligible for Brotherhood membership should read the enclosed notice. This summer , the Brotherhood Ceremony will be held on the Ordeal weekend and each Thursday at camp. As The Order of the Arrow Handbook explains, becoming a Brotherhood member is the natural way to seal your membership in the Order. Brotherhood membership is for all Arrowmen who believe in the principles of the Order and want to learn and grow more. Please take the time to participate in the Ceremo11y while at CarrtR with your troop, as an individual participant by coming up · Orie Thursday, or on the Ordeal weekend . Everyone should bring work gloves , work clothes, extra clothes, rain gear, Scout uniform (make sure you have one for Saturday night), sleeping bag, ground sheet and/or tent, flashlight, and any other necessities . The fee for the weekend should be submitted with the registration form to the council office by May 31 for the $10.00 price, or a late fee of $2.00 will be added. This fee includes all meals Saturday, breakfast on Sunday, and insurance. The Brotherhood fee is $20.00, with a late charge of $3.00 , which also includes sash. Check-in will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m . on Friday at the Administration Build ing , and the weekend's events wiii end by 10:00 a.m., Sunday.
